Gail Kollman, Kensal, 2nd Vice Chair District 29 GOP, and past election judge questioned if this would change the number of election workers. Precincts must be approved by December 31, 2023. Bernie Satrom, Chairman of District 12 Republicans, and Cole Conley, State Senator, District 12, requested the Commission leave the number of precincts the same. The vote center location would not change. The change would reduce the number of ballot styles on election day. The city council approved a request earlier this year and has a resolution on file. One precinct is in Legislative District 29 and the other five are in Legislative District 12. There are currently six precincts within the city. Alonge then presented a discussion on reducing the number of City of Jamestown Precincts for the 2024 election cycle. Roll call vote: Bergquist, Wolsky, Morris, Taylor, and Klose voted aye. A motion to increase raffle permit fees to $25.00, beginning January 1, 2024, was made by Bergquist, seconded by Wolsky. The county has charged $10.00 for these permit fees for several years and can charge up to $100.00. Jessica Alonge, Auditor/COO, presented a request for changes in the 2024 raffle permit fees. A motion to approve the employer/employee contributions for the NDPERS Public Safety Plan as presented with the employee contribution being 4.78% and the employer contribution being 13.26% was made by Morris, seconded by Wolsky. Roll call vote: Taylor, Klose, Bergquist, Wolsky, and Morris voted aye. A motion to join the public safety retirement plan effective March 1, 2024, was made by Wolsky, seconded by Bergquist. New hires would automatically go on the plan, and current employees in Law Enforcement would get the option to stay with their current plan or join the Public Safety Retirement Plan. The plan would allow law enforcement officers and licensed peace officers to retire with the Rule of 85.
